Laura Saucerman has been a stellar nurse in the Emergency Department for the past 20 years. I would refer to Laura as an unsung hero. She is consistent every day while delivering outstanding nursing care to all her patients. It is not just one good thing that she has done, but all the spectacular things she does for patients and their families daily.
I have worked in the ER with her since she started. When I see her working on one of my shifts, it proves to be a great day! Laura has demonstrated expertise in the care of sick and injured children. She has a vast knowledge of pediatric emergency conditions. I can rely on her to monitor patients and to alert me with subtle changes in a patient's condition. I clearly remember when a patient had not yet been evaluated and she informed me that she thought the patient was in septic shock. She was so right! The patient began to rapidly decline, but with her quick and methodical actions, the patient was transferred to the critical care area where he received immediate and lifesaving medical intervention.
I could relay several such stories where her swift nursing actions helped to save a patient. She is truly an exemplary addition to the ED.
