She puts the patients and their families at ease and creates an environment of trust where the patients choose to come back to Lakeside for care.
Laura makes it a priority to come in any time of the day to meet with new travelers and staff to go over best practices and quality measures to ensure our metrics are constantly above goal.
She also demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with colleagues and staff despite difficult situations at times. Laura is very transparent with staff in a way that always manages up others/situations and promotes positivity in the team. She always follows through in addressing the staff's questions and concerns. She also is very encouraging in aiding the nurses in achieving PNAP. She takes the time to understand their concerns and helps them build their ideas into PNAP projects.
Laura is the embodiment of positivity. She is the cheerleader for the 4th floor team and takes the time to celebrate accomplishments big and small to keep the team motivated. She also sees the light in every situation and is able to convey the vision we want to achieve so that staff feel the hope to keep moving even with difficult challenges.
Laura fosters the principle of patient-centered care. She often brings tough situations back to the concept of "what is best for the patient" to re-center the team in providing the best care. I've witnessed her handle upset patients multiple times and her grace in stressful situations and ability to simply listen to the patients and their families is a prime example of how a leader should handle situations. She puts the patients and their families at ease and creates an environment of trust where the patients choose to come back to Lakeside for care.
