July 2026 Honoree
Laura Stewart, MSN, RN, CNOR
I would like to commend Laura Stewart on behalf of a family who was deeply impacted by her compassion, support, and extraordinary care during their time of crisis. The family shared the following in their Patient Family Experience comments:
“Laura Stewart was a nurse who is the instructor for perioperative. My nephew was scheduled for surgery that morning. As I walked into the registration desk, I received a call that my dad had just passed away.
S at the front desk came to my side, hugged me, and was extremely kind. Then, out of nowhere, Laura Stewart appeared and helped me make phone calls to my family as I was getting sick from the shock and grief. She stayed with me for a few hours. She took my nephew to eat and even bought him toys. She prayed with me and held me as I cried uncontrollably. Laura went beyond anything I’ve ever known — she was as supportive as any one person could be. Laura is the true definition of an angel, an amazing human, and just a beautiful soul.
This hospital is so lucky to have such an incredible woman. She even called the doctor to ensure my nephew could be rescheduled quickly.
When we came back for the rescheduled surgery, she came to check on us again and offered her condolences again. Please let her boss and CEO know what an amazing and beautiful blessing of an employee she is.”
This story speaks volumes about who Laura is. She is someone who consistently shows genuine compassion and caring in everything she does. On that day, she set aside her own responsibilities to be fully present with this family during an unimaginable moment. Her support made a meaningful difference when they needed it most.
I am incredibly grateful for Laura’s compassion and the way she represented our organization. Her presence, advocacy, and emotional support left an impact that this family will never forget. Laura’s dedication and heart are exactly what the DAISY Award was designed to honor.
