Laura was a primary caregiver for our son and she advocated for him constantly. On her first day with him, Laura was compelled to attend a care conference to discuss some major problems. One of the proposed solutions was to provide our son with primary nursing care. Laura pressed for this for the duration of our stay and even if she was bumped to another patient she would come into our room to chart and talk to me. She chose to know me personally and was a tremendous comfort to me. When she was not working she would call another nurse to come check on me, this reflects genuine concern. I want to recognize the importance she had in the care of my son and me. Laura radiates competence, skill, and concern. She even made a chart for dressing changes so the other nurses would be able to get it right and taped it to his bed so everyone could see what was needed. Whenever there was an issue, she worked on my behalf to see it resolved. My gratitude to her is boundless, and it brings tears to my eyes as I write this.
