Laura is a hospice nurse who consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. Most recently she had a homeless patient with an ostomy. The patient was requiring daily visits to manage the ostomy. Laura knew which areas of town to check and would drive by in an attempt to locate him. Once she located him, she would try to find a semi-private area to assist the patient with his ostomy care. This often occurred in parking lots behind bushes. Although many resources had been offered to the patient, he refused to accept them. That did not stop Laura from ensuring he had what he needed for his medical care. She helped him obtain clean clothing and ensured he had all the medication he needed. She never once missed making her visits to him while he spent several weeks homeless. She has since helped convince him to accept help and he had a place to stay. Her persistence paid off and I would like to recognize her for her utmost compassion in a very difficult situation.
