Emergency procedures are filled with fear, anxiety, and generally pain. I arrived at DCH in the middle of experiencing all of these and more. Hours passed slowly as I waited for my turn in the OR. My ER experience was unsettling. Yet, out of the OR, I was received by Laura, who provided me with skillful care filled with compassion going above and beyond for all of her patients is likely the exceptional care she daily provides. However, Laura makes all patients feel as if they were the only ones under her care.

Laura, you were my physical support when I could not pee! You were my emotional support after an incredibly horrible, painful experience waiting for stent removal. And you were a model holistic nurse by providing me spiritual care of hope and blessings in my recovery. Thank you for holding my hand, escorting me to the floor, and coming again the next day to check me.
