During a very hectic critical care situation where a 20-year-old man experienced an unknown, life-threatening injury, Laura Watson stepped into action without hesitation. The young man was in acute distress, and Laura looked him in the eyes and told him that we were going to take care of him. Meanwhile, she called for the doctor and advocated multiple times that this patient was not okay. The patient was emergently intubated.
Laura's swift actions saved him from a surgical procedure on his neck in the ED and ultimately saved his life. Her compassion and competence are inspiring to all those around her. Our department should be so proud to have her on our team.
