Laura spent extra time navigating this patient.
Laura is our RN navigator at our NW breast center under the department of Integrative Health at Carroll. She facilitates a breast cancer support group. There was a very upset patient that was seen in the clinic and came in with the notion that she wanted a mastectomy “regardless of what the best practice/research says”. She was agitated with the team and the doctor. Laura spent extra time navigating this patient. Laura invited this patient to attend the virtual support group that evening; Laura did not think she would come but she did. Below is the email from the patient:
“Thank you Warriors for sharing last night. I replayed some of the conversations in my head all night. And actually felt a very deep and strong exhale… I feel like I have not been able to talk about my journey with ladies that understand! And listening to your stories and words reached an otherwise untouched place in my soul. And just so happened to fall on a really rough day for me. Lifted my spirits when I needed it the most. Thank you; looking forward to next month!"
