A cancer patient had been admitted to the ICU for the last couple of weeks. He was chronically ill, critically sick, and his prognosis was poor. Upon learning that his daughter was getting married and he was unable to walk her down the aisle, Laura Zablow set up a wedding on our unit, so he was able to witness and celebrate the marriage of his daughter.
Laura coordinated with other nurses, doctors, his beloved family members, and pastoral care to organize a wedding service at his bedside. She even bought decorations and flowers for the ceremony. We all gathered with his family around the room to witness this spectacular moment. This was a great example of the commitment Laura has to her patients and how she went above and beyond to give this father a special memory.
