She sang to her and watched over her as if she was her own.
Our infant daughter died at this facility after 11 days of the most invasive types of intervention available. Laurel was willing to share intimate details about herself and her life in order to bring us comfort and hope in this dark time. She offered to come in on her day off to be with us when we removed support and let our sweet baby go. She defended her and demonstrated her professional abilities many times by ensuring people coming in to test her were following all of the rules about sanitation and protection. She was strong even when it may have been awkward, she was a light in the darkness and encouragement to our hearts. She went above and beyond what her job was by being willing to do things for us and for M that others were not willing to do. It was because of her that I was able to finally hold my infant daughter who was torn from me and taken immediately by life flight to another hospital while I was taken to another to heal from surgery. She gave her a bath and tried to give her comfort in ways her job did not require. She sang to her and watched over her as if she was her own. She shared her heart with us and carried us with her after she left her shift. She was amazing and we are so grateful for her.
