Laurel Ross, RN was my primary nurse in SICU. She was very professional and attentive, concerned for my health and well-being. Prior to SICU all my heart tests were normal. One morning, I called for assistance as I was having chest pressure, immediately she was there, EKG normal, then a short time later I again called for assistance with chest pressure, EKG again showed normal. At this point is where she said to find a definitive cause, she would leave the EKG machine hooked up, later when chest pain happened, immediately EKG showed abnormal. It happened again and 2nd EKG showed abnormal, she called Dr. T and Dr. S and said that we got the problem figured out. Both Doctors concurred it required a heart cath. I had heart catheterization surgery with 95% blockage in LAD, and 2 stents placed. If Laurel had not taken the extra time to find the problem, I would have been sent home with intermittent pain and I probably wouldn't be here today. Her attention to detail and concern, immediate response to my needs, saved my life. The Doctor at Mission said I "dodged a bullet". Thank you Laurel.
