September 2018 Honoree
laurel watkins, BSN, RN, VA-BC
A patient, on a vacation from China, was in a car accident was admitted to our hospital. The patient was unable to tolerate the food choices provided by the hospital. Laurel, being Chinese and Mandarin speaking, was referred to the patient by the nursing staff to help translate, she translated for the patient and cooked the patient home-cooked meals that the patient could enjoy. This type of compassion and caring from a nurse who wasn't even providing direct care for the patient deserves to be recognized and acknowledged by her colleagues and peers. Thank you, Laurel, for showing compassion and respect to our patients.
Thank you, Laurel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
