June 2026 Honoree
Laurel Wedemeyer, BSN, RN
After delivering my baby, I was overwhelmed, physically exhausted, emotional, and just a little unsure of myself and what my body had just experienced.
From the moment Laurel walked into my room, she brought a sense of calm and reassurance that I didn't even realize I needed. She didn't just care for me medically; she truly cared for me as a person.
She took the time to explain everything in a way that made me feel comfortable and confident, never rushed, and was always patient. Whether it was helping me with breastfeeding in the middle of the night, answering my endless questions, or simply staying with me when I felt unsure, she made me feel seen and supported.
What stood out most to me was how she treated both my baby and me with genuine compassion. She celebrated the little moments with us and reminded me that I was doing a good job even when I didn't feel like I was. That meant more than I can put into words.
She is truly the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, and she is more than deserving of the DAISY Award.

I delivered a beautiful preemie boy (35 weeks) at Prisma for the first time. I had never delivered at this hospital before.
Laurel kept me company while my baby was in the NICU. She absolutely rocked it. She has excellent bedside manner and truly loves her job. She answered all of my questions and advocated for me as much as she could, and honestly just made me feel safe and secure.
My birthing process was a bit traumatic, and both ladies did an above-and-beyond job at making me feel cared for and seen.
