September 2019 Honoree
lauren amiano, BSN, RN, OCN
It is not a solo incident that Lauren goes the extra mile, but she surely deserves to be recognized for this specific occasion. On 7C, there was a patient that was getting chemo every 12 hours and it was a three-hour hour infusion. One of the doses was due in the middle of the night at 0230. Unfortunately, there were no chemotherapy certified nurses on the schedule that night. After making calls to any and every chemotherapy nurse who may be available to come in for three hours in the middle of the night, we had no luck and had to get creative.
Lauren did not hesitate to volunteer to come in at 0230 to infuse the chemotherapy even though she is a day shifter and had worked 0700-1930 the day before. We're lucky to have such a team player as a part of 7C, and more importantly, our oncology patients are lucky to have such a dedicated nurse who is willing to go above and beyond!

Thank you, Lauren, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
