I would like to recognize Lauren for her compassionate care with a patient. Lauren was taking care of a patient in MS19, Ms. J. Ms. J was unable to come off the Bi-pap. The patient was a DNR and was in her last days. One day Lauren had Ms. J and she requested hot chocolate. Lauren went down to Starbucks to get her one. Lauren sat with her and talked about Ms. J's life and many travels. Later that day Ms. J was getting anxious, Lauren knew that these might be her last hours. As Ms. J was dying, Lauren sat in the room with her holding her hand, as her family was on the way to the hospital. Ms. J passed before the family could get there, but Lauren was by her side every minute. Lauren showed true compassion and kindness and brought dignity to her last hours on earth. I feel like this is the definition of a DAISY Nurse.
