My dad had surgery to remove an area of cancer from his colon and had several days of recovery before going home. Because of the surgery and pain medication, he experienced several days of delirium. Lauren Berger was one of his excellent nurses during this time. Ms. Berger demonstrated great patience with repeated calm in her voice to a patient who was agitated and aggressive (my beloved dad).
On one of the occasions when Lauren was in the room, my dad got to thinking about the game of "corn holes" and was angry for not letting him play. Ms. Berger came back to the room a few moments later and gave him a bag to toss and be able to play. She gave him a tied off glove with a bit of crushed ice in it and let him throw it into the garbage can. He was so happy.
She got him to take his medicine when no one else could. My family appreciates her style of care. Thank you, Ms. Berger.
