Lauren Bostick goes above and beyond for her patients. The son of one of Lauren's patients asked where his father's belongings were. They had not been delivered to the IRC when he had dropped them off. The patient's son shared just how important his father's Veterans hat was to him. Lauren tracked down the belongings and found that the patient that was admitted into his old room was using his belongings. Lauren, with the patient's son, took the time to go through each article of clothing. Unfortunately, it was found that his Veterans hat had been ripped apart. Lauren was determined to find all the pieces of the hat knowing how important it was to her patient. She was told that the pieces were thrown out and dug through the trash and found each piece. She then ensured all the belongings were washed before returning them to her patient. It was clear that this patient was very important to her. When she called me to talk about the situation, she was extremely upset. She stated: "I didn't care if the trash was taken downstairs, I was going to suit up and dig through the hospital trash to find all the pieces of that hat." Lauren is a true example of compassion and caring for her patients. I feel proud to work with her.
