Lauren was my son’s NICU nurse 6 days after he was born with hydrocele. While Lauren was examining him, she alerted the doctor that he might have a hernia and requested to perform an ultrasound. Ultrasound was done, and no hernia was found at this time but it helped set us up with a surgeon who will help monitor. I was also educated on what to look for. Two months after my son’s birth, I noticed the symptoms and took him to the ED and my son had surgery. If not for Lauren’s care I would have not been so aware of the problem. She did a great job alerting the doctor of a potential concern and educating me.
