On two occasions over the past two weeks, we have had two critical patients together. Last week Lauren's help was instrumental. We were able to de-escalate care on a patient and she quickly engaged the palliative care team while providing compassionate care to the patient and family. What is more, a deployed family member was attempting to get emergency leave from the military. She took the initiative to contact the Red Cross to arrange this. Today for more than 3 hours straight she cared for one of the sickest patients I have seen in some time with flawless, empathetic nursing care. This was not only noted by me but the patient's family was also extremely complimentary throughout the process and commented multiple times about how grateful they were to have her at the bedside during their family member's final moments. Her experience and help during both of these cases were integral. She is an excellent member of our team and I wanted to reach out to share these anecdotes that don't get shared enough.
