Lauren Cappelletti, BSN, RN, CCM

I worked with Lauren recently on our Saturday obligation. Lauren had a patient who was homeless, living in a shelter, and taking a LYFT which was set up to go to Brooklyn, NY. Needing surgery, the patient came here to PA because she still had PA Medicaid. The woman brought her 5-year-old with her as it was not safe to leave the child at the shelter in Brooklyn. Lauren arranged for the child to return to Brooklyn in the same LYFT with mom which was very difficult to coordinate as the child was staying with a friend locally. What was extraordinary is that Lauren and Security staked out two different locations outside the hospital to make sure the LYFT driver could find the correct entrance. Lauren was afraid the LYFT driver would leave without picking up mom and child because there was much construction that Saturday outside the hospital. Lauren goes above and beyond due to the kindness in her heart. I am blessed to have her as my work partner. Mom and child arrived safely -- we know this because Lauren called the shelter to check on the pair. Lauren is a dedicated, kind-hearted nurse who is a DAISY Nurse for her extraordinary efforts.
