Lauren has worked on our unit as an RN for 7 years. She is an excellent communicator with her peers, physicians and patients/families. Lauren is often mentioned in discharge phone calls and HCAHPS comments for delivering excellent care to our patients and families.
Lauren has a real passion for improving nursing practice and seeking best outcomes for her patients and others. Lauren selflessly may work additional hours or change her days around at the drop of a hat when needed. She is a team player and is always supportive of her coworkers. She encompasses all the qualities that make an excellent nurse.
An example of Lauren's care was during Management Rounds when a patient's wife expressed her feelings about the care she received from Lauren. Her husband suffered a stroke 2 years ago and has been in the hospital multiple times in 2017. She appreciated the expertise and empathy Lauren had given them. She said that she knows her husband was not the easiest patient, but Lauren was patient and showed a cheerful manner. She took the time to explain medications, tests that were happening, and plan of care and felt she had more knowledge of his condition from Lauren than from the doctors. She said that she told Lauren she was born to be a nurse because she loves what she does. She showed care and empathy every time she was with them and she thanked her for helping to care for her husband.
Lauren serves as a living example of dedication and commitment to true patient advocacy, delivering personalized care to all her patients in all circumstances, and enabling others to do the same.
