Lauren is totally patient centered and an advocate. She goes above and beyond in her approach to dealing with pain management, goals of care and end of life issues. She provides complete care, hands on, bathing, skin care, oral care – all activities of daily living – which unfortunately has become a rarity and often delegated to our wonderful CCP’s . I absolutely know that her patients’ needs will be prioritized every shift she works! She is upbeat, positive and a strong team member consistently.

I want to share an exquisite example of who Lauren is as a Nursing Colleague: We had a patient recently on Telemetry for an extended amount of time. She was losing her life and battling kidney failure, overwhelming infection and pain issues, 24 hours a day. She was at an age that most of us would be enjoying early retirement, grandchildren and a less hectic life. Lauren was instrumental in guiding this patient and family along the path of decision making, pain management and life sustaining measures. This patient was assigned to Lauren every day she worked. She would also “peek” in on her on her days off. This happened to be a bright light in this patient’s sometimes lonely day. The patient told me often, how much she loved Lauren visiting her, and how her visits provided her comfort.

She truly demonstrated SNMH’s values in the care of the patient and family. It is an honor to observe and work directly with Lauren Clark.
