I have been in some of the worst pain I have ever been in in my life these last four days. I suffer from a chronic disease and have always felt judged anytime I needed medical care, as I'm young. Lauren DeRego was my nurse on the 2nd floor; she went so far above and beyond to care for me. Not only was she so kind, humorous, and energetic, but she is also someone who genuinely cares about her patients. She took the time to listen to me, validated my experience, and showed genuine interest in who I am, not only as a patient but as a person.

I am sitting here crying tears of joy while I write this. I feel so cared for. I've never quite had an experience like this where someone cared so much about me through communication, quick assistance, and overall actions. We all know actions speak louder than words. The whole team here has been wonderful, but Lauren stuck out like a shining star.

You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does and cares about each patient with respect and kindness, and aims to promote all of her patients' well-being. Lauren approached me with a recovery-oriented lens; she clearly communicated any changes in care regarding medications or treatments, never once leaving me in the dark about what was happening. She informed me what each medication was. She considered what I wanted in my recovery and advocated to the doctors for me.

Lauren took the time to not only get to know me as a patient but as a human too. She asked about my goals, dreams, and passions with interest and care. She made me feel so seen. She made a huge impact on me in the short time that I stayed here. I'll never forget how this lovely woman went above and beyond to make me laugh and care for me with the utmost respect and consideration for my needs. Lauren is irreplaceable. I've never met anyone like her.

Lauren, you are an incredibly kind and nurturing nurse; you are a symbol of what every single nurse should be. I hope you can continue to be you because I know your patients appreciate you more than you know. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Lauren. I will never forget what you have done for me.

Thank you, Lauren, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
