I have frequently witnessed Lauren going above and beyond the call of duty for her patients. Several recent examples include: going to all of the hospital vending machines to purchase hard candy for her patient to suck on. When the machines did not have any, she went out of her way to get some. Another time an anxious patient was worried about being transferred to a facility late in the day, Lauren stayed past her scheduled shift to ensure that the transfer went smoothly and the patient was comfortable. Just recently a patient was admitted after falling ill at work on a rainy day. His work boots had been placed in a patient belongings bag and were wet and musty; the patient was concerned that they would be ruined. After being told that stuffing newspaper into the boots may help dry them out, she went to the lobby and purchased the paper so the patient could leave the hospital with dry boots.
