Lauren Geiling, RN

We have two patients on this unit - a husband and a wife. Neither is doing well and will likely pass away within the same time frame. Expectedly, the daughters of these patients are having a difficult time. Lauren Geiling has been the husband's nurse for the last three nights and has built a strong rapport. It was decided that the husband will transition to home hospice today. Overnight last night, Lauren sat with one of the daughters and comforted her and helped her understand her dad's condition so that she could find closure and acceptance with her dad's passing. She also sat with the patient and discussed his end-of-life care. She had so much compassion for this family, and I believe she made a huge difference in helping to bring them closure and understanding. I am so happy to call her both a friend and a colleague.
