We had a young patient who was admitted through the ED. The patient asked Lauren, "who has been taking care of me and has my family called to check on me?" When Lauren told the patient that she had not spoken to anyone, you could see how discouraged that patient was.
Lauren took it upon herself to make a small banner that read, "6 South Nurses Care About You!" to hang in his room, as well as bought him a dessert from the cafeteria to uplift his spirits.
Lauren went above and beyond to make sure this young patient knew that someone cared.
