May 2025 Honoree
Lauren J Stewart, RN
I came to room 418 after 10 hours in the Emergency Room. I was overwhelmed, exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and anxious. My nurse immediately picked up my condition and asked, "What can I do for you?" I had to think about that because I am used to the medical staff telling me what they were going to do. I was really thirsty and loved Diet Coke. She got me one. I was thirsty, and she gave me a drink.
I was hungry, and the hospital kitchen was closed. My nurse ordered me a Chick-fil-A salad and had it delivered to the hospital at her own expense. I was hungry, and she fed me. I will forever remember this totally unexpected kindness. This was the entire nursing staff in action. Last night, I experienced a little bit of heaven on earth in room 418.

Thank you, Lauren J, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
