It's the little things, small acts of kindness, that make the biggest difference. By the time I was brought into the emergency room on Sunday, with what was eventually diagnosed as Colitis, I was bleeding from my colon. To say the least, I was a mess.

Lauren was amazing, making sure I had what I needed to be as comfortable as possible while also staying on top of things medically. She was very reassuring and I was able to "settle down" through my frequent, uncontrollable, bowel movements.

In the middle of all this chaos, Lauren left the room for a bit. When she returned, she brought in a package of Huggies wipes which made cleanup much easier and much more comfortable. I have since learned that, while these wipes are standard issue in the med-surg unit, they are not in the ER. It was a seemingly insignificant thing, but it showed me how Lauren is a nurse who will do whatever it takes for her patients, and I am forever grateful for everything she did on my behalf.
