Lauren Jurek

I had the honor of being Lauren’s faculty in her Capstone. Lauren developed and implemented an educational workshop for cardiac care in the NICU setting that I am sure will be a very impactful clinical initiative for the NICU and will have far-reaching effects for both the nurses and the patients. Lauren wondered if the implementation of a neonatal cardiac education program for NICU RNs, would improve RN neonatal cardiac knowledge and confidence when providing care to patients. Her work did indeed make a difference, She found that the average pretest score of staff was 60%, while the posttest  score was 85%! This represents a tremendous increase in both competence and confidence for the NICU nurses related to cardiac care.
