Lauren Lopez, RN, is our DAISY Honoree for October 2023. Lauren, a pediatric nurse, was nominated by a physician.  

Her nominator recognized Lauren as “a great example of how our pediatrics nurses go above and beyond to give the best patient-centered care they can.”   

Lauren noticed some changes in her patient's symptoms and took steps to alert the physician and get the patient the care they needed. Lauren was also concerned about the patient’s breathing, and she noticed that the pulse oximeter was not reliably sending information to the desk, so she carefully monitored the patient frequently to make sure they were safe. She reported the malfunction and quickly relayed all the information about the patient to the doctor.  

“Lauren went completely above and beyond, taking multiple extra steps to make sure her patient was safe. I am so grateful to have her on the Peds unit taking care of my patients. I know that it's not rare for the nurses on Peds to go above and beyond to help their patients, but it just felt like the kind of thing that you should know about, and she should be recognized for. This job can be really hard sometimes, whether it's a high census or equipment that doesn’t work or challenging patients., When people find a way to go above and beyond for their patients, I think they should be recognized.”
