In preparation for the TCAR procedure, there is a need to train all of our SDS/PACU staff. Whenever we do a new procedure most of the education is focused on the Operating Room. But a lot can happen before and after the surgery. Lauren has been a passionate advocate for the training and education of the pre-op and Post-op phases. She came to me and asked if she could provide TCAR education to the staff. Being the only Nurse in the department with TCAR experience I accepted her offer. Lauren didn't let me down. In all her spare time, she did research, pulled policies, talked to experts, and put together a PowerPoint presentation. This presentation helped all of us understand what we need to do before, during, after, and with documentation. I plan to use Lauren as our resource person when we get our first TCAR patient.
