My son came in with Rickettsia that caused meningitis. He had a high fever, horrible headache and was very agitated. Any light would end up bothering him, noise, such as the monitor beeping, made him go mad. Lauren made extra effort by covering up the monitor lights and set her alarm on her personal watch to go off thirty seconds before his alarms, so she could be at his bedside to stop the beeping as soon as possible. She was very calming, thorough and apologetic when he was hurting. She went above and beyond to make sure my son's needs were met as well as to be expected while he was sick and in the hospital. She had great eye contact and explained everything so my son would understand. She was his favorite nurse and when we did not have her the following night he really realized how much she went above and beyond. She was a true blessing and a breath of fresh air in a bad situation.
