It was a difficult evening in ICU for me. My husband was very, very, sick. I got no sleep, so I was exhausted by the time Lauren began her shift. She acknowledged that she realized I was going through a difficult time. I told her that chocolate was my go-to for dealing with stress. She left the room, then came back in about 10 minutes with Ghirardelli Chocolate and a box of Russell Stover Chocolates. Lauren has a special gift of being able to show compassion while at the same time remaining professional. She was right there with me 3 hours later when my husband passed. To me, she was my special angel on the most difficult day of my life.
