She wasn’t just my baby’s nurse; she was a teacher, a counselor, a mentor, an advocate, and a friend.
We met Lauren upon admission of my daughter to CHOC, and from that moment, she became a beacon of hope for us. Lauren worked day shifts, and I can only begin to imagine the chaos she endured while we were one of her patients. Despite the demanding nature of her job, Lauren was incredibly attentive to my daughter, ensuring we never felt left in the dark. My daughter was admitted due to a traumatic brain injury, which left me and other immediate family members with a deep sense of uncertainty and fear. Lauren involved us in every aspect of our daughter’s treatment plan, making sure all procedures and tests were thoroughly explained, even to an anxious mommy with 1,000 questions.
During our 4-day stay in the ICU, Lauren checked on us each day, even when she wasn’t assigned to our care. Her consistent words of affirmation and positivity were a source of immense comfort. Lauren’s presence was like a breath of fresh air, bringing a sense of calm and reassurance to my daughter’s recovery journey. The job is undeniably demanding, but Lauren’s dedication and compassion made it seem effortless. She wasn’t just my baby’s nurse; she was a teacher, a counselor, a mentor, an advocate, and a friend.
Lauren’s impact on our lives during those critical days is something we will never forget. Her unwavering support, kindness, and professionalism provided us with a sense of stability and hope during an incredibly challenging time. Lauren, you are a true testament to the nursing profession, and your ability to bring light and comfort to families in their darkest hours is nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you for being there for us, for your tireless dedication, and for making a profound difference in our lives. Your compassion and care have left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we are forever grateful.
