Lauren makes a meaningful difference by being an advocate for patients. She finds very effective ways to communicate with her patients, stands by them, and at times acts on their behalf. The unit is often crowded, loud, confusing, uncomfortable and scary for many patients. Lauren, serving as a patient's advocate, always explains terms and conditions to her patients that are in distress. She tries to speak in ways that her patients can understand. The latter helps them feel more comfortable in the unit's setting, it relieves stress and it helps to improve patients' overall healthcare experience. Lauren gives her time freely and sacrifices for people she has never met before. She finds her own way to show compassion, care and support to her patients and their families during the most stressful and critical times. She has a gift of making them laugh during those difficult times. Lauren truly helps make a meaningful difference, one life at the time.
