Lauren Pickard, BSN, RN

What an attentive, warm, and caring individual Lauren is! Her inner beauty shines far. It is obvious that Lauren loves people and truly enjoys her job of serving others! I was very impressed by her kindness and patience. She made me feel welcomed. Not all RNs exhibit these aforementioned traits when doing “CNA Work,” but you could tell that no minor question or request was “below” Lauren, and she gave it all her careful attention. For instance, Lauren noticed I was bored and suggested crosswords or Sudoku. She went to the computer, printed out several and brought them immediately to me. A while later, when I had completed them, she printed out a booklet of them on her own, which was time away from her “important” duties.

Another example was Lauren’s willingness to walk the halls with me when I needed to get out of the room. Lauren is gentle, friendly, and absolutely lovely. I was privileged to have her as my daytime nurse. Even for only one shift. What a gem Lauren is. Chambersburg Hospital is lucky to have this beautiful person. I do recognize that this DAISY Award is an exceptional honor, and I know my examples seem simple compared to what happens in a hospital on a daily basis. I know many nurses truly deserve this, and their stories are phenomenal. Yet, I just wanted to show my appreciation for Lauren and share this anyway. Lauren truly is exceptional, not only as a nurse, but as a person.
