We are so grateful for Lauren's concern with not only our mother's final days but helping us navigate this journey with full knowledge of the situation each time it changed.
My mother was admitted to the 10th floor- Rose from the ED. When she arrived, she was having aspiration issues and was uncomfortable and anxious. Lauren was helpful in trying to work with my mother to bring calmness and comfort to her. By Wednesday we knew we needed to bring her home with Hospice. In the afternoon my mother took a turn downward. The consensus from the doctor was that she could not handle transport. Lauren suggested GIP status to the doctor. I was not aware of what that was but was listening for decisions to be made. The decision was to change her to hospice care in the hospital. After the doctor left the room, Lauren stayed to explain what the decision meant and the process to follow. She always made sure we understood what was happening and how it was affecting our mother.

We are so grateful for Lauren's concern with not only our mother's final days but helping us navigate this journey with full knowledge of the situation each time it changed. It takes a certain personality to work in the palliative care area. It is clear that Lauren has a gift in this area. Her compassion for helping others confirms she is suited for this area. We are thankful that Lauren has kept the humanity in nursing.
