One weekend, we had a mother and three children come in due to a domestic abuse situation with the father/husband. This woman had bruising all over her and her teenage child is the one who called 911. The father/husband threatened their lives and told them he would kill them. So, naturally, they were afraid to return to their home. Lauren went above and beyond her nursing duties to help this mother and children. She bought them lunch because they were here for a few hours. She called shelters around the county to see if she could get them in. The shelters stated that they were full so Lauren investigated more and found out that the shelters are able to provide a hotel for the families if the shelters are full. Lauren set them up in a safe place for the next few nights so that the police could have time to find this man which kept this mother and her children safe. Lauren has such a big heart and it was admirable of her to not discharge the family until she knew they had a safe haven. She treated this family as if it were her own family and that is such a testament to her character. Bayhealth is so lucky to have a such a beautiful person working for this organization.
