Lauren admitted us to M7E from the ED just prior to her shift change. She did not appear rushed and took the time to make us feel welcome and orient us to the unit. She let us know she would be back the next day. I had worked almost a full shift on M9C running down to the ED to speak with doctors and make decisions with my husband so by the time we were admitted I was stressed to the max. Her calmness and helpfulness was so important to me at that moment. She continued to impress me with her care of my son today. He is here for dehydration and continues to be stubborn about drinking liquids. Lauren was patient, accommodating, cheerfully providing whatever he requested and came up with creative ways to get fluids in him (she made him an "icy" of pedialyte and a mashed popsicle!) She had a sweet convincing way of encouraging him to drink that helped a lot. She is obviously knowledgeable and competent as a nurse but she also provides non-judgmental holistic care. Her bedside manner is superb.
