She is thoughtful and thorough, able to examine a case and truly grasp the entire picture.
Lauren Schianodicola is an Inpatient Oncology Nurse Practitioner. She has been a textbook example of a "team player" since day one. I remember Lauren from the first day I met her. I sat down with her to interview her, and her sweet and calm demeanor immediately stood out. It was a time when constant masking was expected, so I couldn't see the bottom half of her face, but her eyes exuded compassion. She shared with me that her grandfather, with whom she was extremely close, had just passed away the day prior, so she was nervous about having to cancel the interview. She said she knew how excited he was about the job opportunity for her, so she wouldn't miss it. Needless to say, the interview went well.
Fast forward two years, and Lauren is now an integral part of our team. She continues to demonstrate that same work ethic and dedication. Even during challenging times, both inside and outside of work, her demeanor remains unchanged. She stays her calm, sweet self. There is so much to appreciate and love about Lauren. Her critical care background is evident in her practice. She is thoughtful and thorough, able to examine a case and truly grasp the entire picture.
Although she can be stern and advocate for her patients when needed, she also has a soft side. I have personally witnessed Lauren helping patients and families find peace and comfort in their final days. There was one patient I still remember telling me that Lauren was no longer his nurse practitioner; he felt like she was family. Last but not least, she is the glue that holds our team together. She shows up consistently. When you need her, she is there. When she is asked to do something, she completes it. She is the kind of person that everyone wants to work with.
