Lauren Shade, BSN, RN, CPHON

Lauren Shade is a nurse in the CBDC at Seattle Children's Hospital. Lauren recently completed a Nursing Professional Development fellowship where she was phenomenal. I watched her tirelessly work to better her unit. Acute Care Float Pool new grads had reported feeling particularly nervous about going to cancer care and giving chemo. Several people let me know how informed, helpful, and approachable Lauren was when teaching classes. Lauren was the only educator for a large unit for several months this summer helping to orient and educate countless travel nurses and new graduate nurses at Seattle Children's. She also came to the float pool staff meeting and lead a very informative refresher on chemotherapy and gave a lot of "why" behind the care we provide oncology patients. Lauren has incredible passion, dedication, and empathy for the patient population she serves and her coworkers.
