Lauri is a take-charge nurse who is the ultimate support person for the patient. She truly is the patient’s advocate. Lauri listens to the patient lying in the bed, regardless of their age. She is aware and cognizant of the patient's baseline before they presented into the hospital. Lauri reports to all disciplines the essential information regarding the patient and gently offers suggestions to motivate the other staff to assist in meeting all of the patient’s needs. She is empathetic without being over-the-top. She treats the patient with compassion, respect, and dignity. There were two student nurses shadowing Lauri, who were very lucky to be able to learn from the best. I am very thankful and blessed that she was my nurse.
