J was transferred from Willamette Falls for a pacemaker. One morning, Laurie noted his pulse was down to the high 20s, so she called and managed to get the surgery bumped up to early in the morning. J was taken back to surgery around 8 am, hours before previously scheduled! Without Laurie's advocating for him, his condition would probably have continued to decline. While J was in surgery, Laurie kept checking in with me to make sure I was doing well, if I needed anything and answering all my questions with kindness and understanding. When J returned from surgery, Laurie was very attentive yet professional, getting him food and drink, figuring out pain relief and blood pressure meds, and explaining all the steps needed to be released. She went so far as to write them on the whiteboard so we could mark them off. When it appeared that J was still having trouble maintaining his balance while walking and was not ready to be discharged, she moved him from the bed to a recliner for comfort and kept working with him on his walking. While doing all this, she also kept confirming that I was doing ok physically, mentally, and emotionally. Laurie is sweet and caring and obviously enjoys her work. I found her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail calming. Laurie is a wonderful ambassador for and a personification of Providence's core values.
