Laurie Edwards, RN, is a Living Donor Coordinator with the Pre-Kidney Transplant Program. Laurie has been with the program for eighteen months and is an exemplary member of our team. Laurie provides excellent patient care along with moral support, advocacy, and guidance. Laurie is attentive to her patients every step of the way, making herself available to answer questions, listen, and provide reassurance and comfort. Laurie’s patients are giving the gift of life – and Laurie knows that experience personally and is able to empathize with her patients while providing education and resources in regards to Living Donation.

Our living donor patients go through a rigorous evaluation prior to donation. This process requires organization and coordination. Laurie works diligently with our team and patient population to ensure they understand this process and all safety and quality measures are addressed. Laurie also works diligently to educate our recipient patient population along with the community in regards to living donation and this amazing gift of life.

Laurie is always willing to lend a helping hand to her peers and often does so without prompting – all in an effort to ensure our patients receive the best care every day. Laurie exudes a passion for living donation and transplant. Laurie exemplifies the dedication and commitment that the patients of the University Transplant Institute and University Health deserve.
