Laurie speaks in a very calm manner and is always ready to help the unit when needed by picking up shifts when staffing is low.
Laurie has been in CSICU for over eight years. With each passing year, it has become evident that she is a team player. Never does a shift go by that Laurie doesn't over-extend herself to help her fellow staff nurse and constantly check-in to make sure no one is "drowning." Also, she takes time to mentor new nurses and is always willing to precept or answer questions when asked.

To her peers, she is a coach. She is highly resourceful; if she doesn't know the answer, she will always find it and get back to you. Laurie speaks in a very calm manner and is always ready to help the unit when needed by picking up shifts when staffing is low.
In addition, she is also a role model to other staff nurses as she educates the ICU staff on the CVVH and is also an educator within the Knight Nursing Center educating the New Graduate ICU Nurses in Cardiac with a focus on Heart Failure. Laurie also participates on the unit policy and procedures committee, demonstrating a passion for professional practice and patient care.

Next, she is also a member of the reimage Blake 8 committee, which advocates for improving the unit and working environment. In addition, Laurie is also enrolled in graduate school focusing on her DNP focused on Nurse Anesthesia and working part-time. Further, she mentors staff nurses looking to return to school and is always willing to talk with them about her experience.

Laurie is a fantastic person and a nurse, and I am nominating her for this reason.
