Laurie is new in her charge nurse role at the Outpatient Surgery Center, and she is doing an amazing job. She is open-minded; she researches matters thoroughly and communicates in an excellent manner. She has been connecting with the team in an amazing way. I was so impressed by the compassion and friendship she is extending to her teammates. 

Two weeks ago, one of our employees had surgery. Laurie offered to be her ride home. It was Laurie’s day off. She came and waited in the lobby during surgery and then took the employee home. But before going home, she told this employee that she was going to take her out to eat first. They had a lovely time at Caroline’s café even though one person had an eye patch in the party.

A week later, one of our employees had chest pain and became diaphoretic during working hours. The employee was accompanied to the ER. It was Laurie’s day off. However, someone texted her to let her know what was happening. Laurie was committed to informing the spouse of the employee. When Laurie called the spouse, the spouse thanked Laurie and said, “ok, Laurie, I will meet you in the ER”. Laurie was so compassionate that she immediately drove from home (Yucaipa) to our ER.

I just want to thank Laurie for what she is doing. I want to thank her for the love she is showing to all of us and for making the most of the opportunities to serve others in our OSC family.
