I would like to nominate Laurie Rollins, the current Case Manager for J5 for a DAISY Award. Laurie genuinely cares about the community that we serve and wants to ensure that patients get back to the level of care that they need and deserve. She has been a long-term employee of Beverly Hospital and represents the best that we can be in many aspects.

Laurie is a team player; she has assisted many staff members with the physical care of our patients and is always available to listen to concerns and lend a sympathetic ear to all staff. (She also is the source of chocolate for J5 staff, which is much appreciated.) As an example, Laurie will walk a patient in the hallway if the patient asks her to, or she will help with other nursing tasks and will make sure the patients get everything they need from their hospital stay. Laurie prioritizes the patient first and is empathetic to patient and staff concerns. She is a ray of light in a sometimes-dark world of hospital nursing.

Laurie should be celebrated as the wonderful human and nurse that she is. Many staff are glad when Laurie is here and feel comforted knowing that all the “t’s are crossed, and I’s dotted” for a seamless patient discharge. Laurie's integrity is apparent in all her interactions, and she receives the same high level of respect that she gives. She has a special touch with difficult patients and is admired by most staff for her professional and pleasant demeanor with patients and colleagues. She is long overdue for this award and deserves much more appreciation for her continued excellence in her role.
