... Laurie has taken care of my husband who has been a frequent cardiac patient multiple times. He is a good patient but a bit impatient and always wants to go home first thing in the morning. Laurie was with my husband going over his medications when we realized that the doctor had placed him on a new medication, Effient. He has an allergy to Plavix so I was concerned about the new med. Laurie called the pharmacy to get information for her and us. I was still concerned so Laurie called the doctor to clarify his order and remind him of my husband's allergy. The doctor's order was to proceed and Laurie came back to us. I was still hesitant so Laurie said she would give him a dose while still here at the hospital and by the time she completed all her discharge paperwork, she would recheck him. I was very relieved and by this time all my husband wanted to do was go home. She took the time to explain everything to us and assured him she would not take long. Well, she had everything done in another 20-30 minutes. By this time my husband was already dressed to go home. Laurie was so kind and patient with both of us. She never once assumed because I work at the hospital that I would understand all his care. She treated my husband and me with the utmost respect and compassion. When I returned to work, she always asks me about my husband which means a lot to me. Because of nurses like Laurie I know my husband is in good hands.
