When my daughter heard she was going back to ICU her first reaction was: “Yeah, I get to have Ms. Laurie.” She made a scary situation comfortable. She very much understands the patient’s needs, both emotional and clinical. She gets to know both patients and families and this helps her teach and explain what she is doing to take care of them. She is a good professional, ready to take charge of any unexpected situation. She has a good heart that shines wherever she goes. She takes care of our children with her knowledge, love and lots of care. She makes parents feel comfortable and that we could not have our kids in better hands. There are many “Ms. Laurie’s” in ICU, but I am happy to nominate Laurie Shoulders to thank her for all her love and care for my daughter.
