May 2026 Honoree
Laurie VadeBonceour, BSN, RN
My mom was nervous about her ablation and Watchman surgery and showed up 30 minutes early, before most of the nurses' shift. But Laurie was there right around 6 am to welcome us. Laurie explained everything and was honest about what may or may not happen. After the surgery, my mom did not pass her first "walking test" when she started bleeding from her incision. Laurie quickly took care of my mom, holding pressure for ten minutes until the bleeding stopped. She knew we all wanted to leave by the end of the day and consistently checked in with the rest of my mom's care team to make sure things were moving. If people were running late, she did what she could to prepare us for the next step. She made sure that we were out of the hospital before she left for the day. I really appreciated her competence and compassion.
Thank you, Laurie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
